Construction Information
Built by a team of Japanese carpenters who immigrated to USA in 1908. Shinzaburo Nishiura with his brother Gentaro, carved intricate wooden gable end pieces, unique in form.
The gate was constructed out of redwood, obtained in Mill Valley, in Marin County. Renovations carried out in 1980, when new support posts added to strengthen the brace posts, and re-roofing with cedar shingles as per original. In 2023 the cedar shingles were replaced and some wood part replaced.
